Injustice Served: Court Says It’s Okay to Kill People But Not Dogs?

Cleveland Browns wide receiver, Donte Stallworth was sentenced to 30-days in jail for fatally hitting a pedestrian while driving drunk, reports the Associated Press. The 28-year-old star's brief jail term came because of his cooperation with investigators and adhering to the wishes of the victim's family. Stallworth pleaded guilty Tuesday to manslaughter while driving under the influence of alcohol in exchange for a lighter sentence. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail for the car crash that killed a pedestrian in Miami Beach. "I am truly sorry," Stallworth said at his sentencing. For the life lost, the court suspended Stallworth's driver's license for life and ordered that he pay $10,000 in fines in addition to 1,000 hours of community service. After his release from jail, Stallworth has been ordered to serve two years of house arrest and eight years probation

Now that you have the news facts, allow us to give you the LiveSteez truth...

There’s a new law, guys. Kill humans, not dogs. Have you heard of it? We didn’t get the memo that animals now trump humans in the justice system. In no way do we condone or trivialize the acts of animal cruelty; however, it does make us wonder how much control PETA really has. Vick was wrong. We won’t dispute that, but a man was not killed. A possible father was not tragically ripped from his children’s lives. A brother or friend to all was not taken. A mother was not left heartbroken because she will now out live her son. Animals bring joy to our lives, but they don’t raise families. They don’t have careers and they’re NOT human. Period.

Stallworth was sentenced to one twenty-third the sentence that Vick got. As a result of his negligence, he knowingly got behind the wheel of a car and endangered multiple lives, including his own. Stallworth didn’t even get a slap on the wrist. He basically has to sit in the corner for thirty minutes and he still gets to attend Timmy’s birthday party on Saturday. Complete BS if you ask us.

What’s our point you ask? We just want everyone to know that we know live in a world where animals now have more rights than humans. Sarah McLachlan’s weepy eyed Lassie infomercial gets more air play than the starving kids over in Africa. Adopting a pet now and days is like trying to get a Malawian baby. Just think, if the extremists over at PETA focused on racial and social injustice, we’d have better schools, ethnic equality and full belies all across the land. Stay up, Vick.
